Silver Lake Regional Park – Haymarket
By Bobbie Harris on May 11th, 2010
Haymarket, Virginia - Silver Lake Regional Park officially opened in October of last year. The 230 acre property was originally a campground with a few old homes. Adjacent to the Dominion Valley community, it was sold to Toll Brothers to the lament of many campers and residents for additional development. Toll Brothers donated the land to Prince William County in 2006 and it was transferred to the Prince William County Park Authority in June 2009.
It is a beautiful serene setting for Prince William residents to enjoy picnics, horseback riding and fishing. At the end of April, the Park Authority approved a new master plan for Silver Lake that would allows park officials to eventually -
add a playground- extend the fishing area in the lake
- add a floating dock to the quarry
- designate a spot for people to launch non-motorized boats
- add areas for primitive and equestrian camping
- add a picnic pavilion and outdoor classroom
Located at 16198 Silver Lake Road in Haymarket and a place you want to add to your “must visit” list. Click here for a park map of Siver Lake and let us know if you visit and what you think.
